Home Is Where the Art Is
Home is Where The Art is
Whether it's fine art, folk art, or
crafts, we all like to display some sort of art in our homes. From frames to
posters, we're going to discuss our favorite art.
Decorate Your Way
A big mistake a lot of folks make is
to decorate with art that is in at the moment. This is fine, but you have to be
ready to change with the trends. You also have to like it. After all, you are
going to have to look at it all the time. Because you change with the trends,
keep the art affordable.
If you are mad about photos,
especially family photos, decorate with them. In fact, dedicate an entire wall
to your family. Using different sized frames, in the same style and color, you
can make an impressive display. Some thing you and your family and guests will
enjoy.
If collector plates are your thing,
USE them. You can display them around a framed picture (in the same style). Use
them to frame a doorway, window or wall mirror.
If you are just in love with your
child's art, frame and display it. All children's pictures look professional in
a nice frame and maybe a colorful matt. You'll be proud to show them off, as
will your child.
If fine art makes your heart skip a
beat, go for it. Of course you will have to afford it. If you can, you can also
look at the art as an investment. Something you love, and the potential to make
money on it, in the future, what else could you want?
If you are obsessed with an actor,
music group, or movies, this is for you. You can frame photos, sheet music,
movie posters, and even album covers. Neatly and stylishly arrange them on your
walls, coffee tables anywhere you like. Just make sure your home mates also
enjoy these things. Hey, they are going to have to live with them as well.
Is That Art?
I have a wall filled with woodwind
instruments. While not usually considered art, it makes an impressive display.
My kitchen has a wall dedicated to antique cooking utensils. Again, not really
art, but I get so many great comments on it.
I visited the home, a year ago, of a
doctor. He had a room dedicated to antique medical supplies. They were on the
walls, on the tables (one even was a table), everywhere. He had a lot of items,
but displayed them so well the room wasn't overwhelming.
Some folks collect pottery. While
you might expect to see their collections in the kitchen, they can go anywhere.
Small planters can become holders for note pads and pens. Small vases and
vessels can look charming arranged on an occasional table.
Well as you can see, art is all in
the eye of the beholder and should be displayed and enjoyed.
